Our workshops are designed for both beginner students through the advanced performing musician looking to gain more knowledge on their applied instruments. We also offer a Stings & Song Youth Clinic for beginner-advanced students 12 and under.

Fiddle / Violin

Fiddle Workshop: Intermediate – Advanced

Instructor: Coleman Smith

Course Description: In this workshop, we will take a look at violin/fiddle techniques, discuss topics of music theory, work on different accompaniment styles, and improvisation. Students will also learn and choose from a variety of pre-prepared songs. It will be a totally interactive experience where students can ask specific questions and everyone will be encouraged to participate and create beautiful music together. Guitar Workshop: Intermediate – Advanced

Guitar Workshop: Intermediate to Advanced

Course Description: Be prepared for an immersion in Guitar! In this week-long intensive we are going to focus on a wide range of guitar fundamentals included but not limited to Bluegrass and Old time Rhythm. You’ll be able to explore what really interests you and get deeper into the styles you like. We’ll make a full neck framework and get into fluid and fast improvising techniques. Intro To Acoustic Workshop: Beginner – Intermediate

Instructor: Nabanita Sarkar

Intro to Acoustic Music: Beginner Guitar & Ukulele

Course Description: In this workshop Nabanita will share everything you need to know to get yourself picking, strumming, and grinning. This course is specifically designed for adult beginners that have limited experience but would like to expand their knowledge on guitar and ukulele. This workshop is also ideal for beginners that haven’t had the opportunity to play in group setting and are ready to learn basic etiquette to feel comfortable in an open jam environment. Strings & Song Youth Workshop

Coletrain Strings & Song Youth Workshop – 12 & Under

Instructors: Patrick Fitzsimons and Leslie Jo Osborne

Course Description: This Strings & Song Youth Workshop led by Patrick Fitzsimons and Leslie Jo Osborne will focus on string instruments including ukulele, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle, however if students are in private lessons on another string instrument these are welcomed as well. Students will learn strumming and bowing techniques, how to keep rhythm (we will provide some percussion instruments), how to perform and play well with others, and will also learn popular sing-along campfire songs. Seed To Song

Breakout Class / Seed To Song, Songwriting Workshop

Instructor: David Lawrence

For our songwriting workshop David will separate the class into two parts. The first half will encompass lyrics, poetry, phrasing, & rhyme, in order to explore the depth of meaning that we can imbue into the song-writing process. The second half of the course focuses on chordal harmony, song structure, and melodic tips. David will discuss how to use all these tools to craft fun meaningful songs and sharpen our song-writing skills.

Find Your Voice

Breakout Class / Find Your Voice, Vocal Clinic

Instructor: Nabanita Sarkar

Course Description: This workshop provides the basic singing skills to help build confidence and fluidity. Throughout this vocal workshop, you will focus on the fundamentals of singing well. This includes understanding the breath and breath control, vowel structure and movement, muscle tensions of the face and neck, ear training through intervals and solfegio, harmonizing, and a deepening of overall body awareness.
