Patrick Fitzsimons

Patrick started learning guitar at age 15 from David Grey of The Sun Kings, inspired by the music of Led Zeppelin, Elvis and The Beatles. At 19 while attending Sarah Lawrence College he discovered bluegrass and began playing the mandolin. After graduation in 2005 he moved to Austin and played in various projects while taking lessons from Billy Bright of Wood and Wire. In 2011 he traveled to India for the first time to visit a friend from college and spend three months traveling through Kashmir, Rajisthan and the Andamin Islands while being exposed to various forms of Indian music. This was the beginning of the idea for a band with the purpose of exploring the similarities between traditional music of the east and west. In the summer of 2016 Patrick moved to Denver and began recruiting musicians for The Bluegrass Journeymen. In the spring of 2017 he toured with The Journeymen through New Delhi and Kolkata.
