Brandon Katz

Brandon earned his Bachelor’s degree in applied double bass, and music education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, while simultaneously completing his Colorado Department of Education public school teacher licensure for K-12 general, vocal, and instrumental music. He then continued on at CSU to complete his Master’s degree in applied double bass, and music education with an emphasis on instrumental conducting, and 19th century Romanic music. Throughout his collegiate career Brandon was a double bass section member of the Colorado State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenny of the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra. During that same time Brandon was an instructor at the Piano Institute, a private music school, where he taught private piano and guitar lessons to children ages 4 and up, as well as adult students.

  • Read easy chord charts within the style of bluegrass, country, and popular music
  • Learn how to play well in a group setting / ensemble
  • Showcase what you learned with a performance at River Runners

What to bring: 

  • Portable electric keyboard, stand & stool
  • Music stand (if not attached to your keyboard)
  • One extension chord & power strip
  • If your keyboard doesn’t have built in amplification please bring a small amplifier
