Bonnie Culpepper

Bonnie Lea Culpepper is an accomplished musician based in Salida, Colorado. Bonnie, who hails from New York, is a classically trained vocalist, as well as a songwriter, and pianist, and specializes in the styles of jazz, blues, and folk. She also has a great love for the Ukulele, which she taught herself to play at the age of 7. In school, her passion was performing Operatic pieces in many different languages and time periods. Her love of music has led her to become a touring singer/songwriter in the styles of contemporary rock, folk, Americana, jam, bluegrass, jazz, and blues. As a passionate professional musician, Bonnie places utmost importance on creative musical freedom. She strives to bring the skills and knowledge to her students to provide a foundation for FUN with music.

 

Piano Lab: Beginner – Intermediate

Course Description: In this Piano Lab you will work with beginner to intermediate topics that will include…

  • How to play basic chord shapes
  • Read easy chord charts within the style of bluegrass and country
  • Learn how to play well in a group setting / ensemble
  • Showcase what you learned with a Piano Lab Ensemble performance at River Runners

What to bring: 

  • Portable electric keyboard, stand & stool
  • Music stand (if not attached to your keyboard)
  • One extension chord & power strip
  • If your keyboard doesn’t have built in amplification please bring a small amplifier

 

Breakout Session / Finding Your Voice, Vocal Workshop: Throughout Bonnie’s vocal workshop, she will focus on the fundamentals of singing well. This includes understanding the breath and breath control, vowel structure and movement, muscle tensions of the face and neck, ear training through intervals and solfegio, harmonizing, and a deepening of overall body awareness. Bonnie hopes to provide the basic singing skills to help build confidence and fluidity in her student’s voices. Finding your voice is a liberating experience that leads ultimately to a deeper connection to one’s body and mind. This break out session is included in Adult Passes. If you do not have an Adult Pass you may purchase this course as an added elective or as a drop-in student HERE.
