Alex Blocker
Alex Blocker brings a rare versatility and infectious energy to Camp Coletrain. Born in Chicago and trained across Classical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Folk, and Bluegrass traditions, Alex holds a degree in Music Education from Fort Lewis College in Durango and has spent his career doing what he loves most — teaching students of all ages to discover their passion for music. A violinist, songwriter, and touring performer, Alex has built a musical identity that defies genre and invites everyone in. He was recently featured in the Museum of Contemporary Art’s “Black in Denver” exhibit and on the cover of Westword Magazine — a testament to the kind of artist he is both on and off the stage.
Alex is a valued member of the Coletrain Music Academy teaching roster, where his diverse background in Pop, Funk, Soul, Folk, Hip-Hop, and Orchestra makes him a natural fit for students at every level. His warmth and genuine love of the instrument meet students where they are and take them somewhere new.
We are so excited to have Alex leading his own beginner fiddle workshop at Camp Coletrain this year. If you’ve always wanted to pick up the fiddle but weren’t sure where to start, this is your moment.
