Buena Vista KOA

Our campground is continuing with renovations at this time. We are open, however, site availability may be limited due to these renovations. We also may experience intermittent water outages, power outages, or have special instructions to follow as we are renovating many aspects of our campground.

The view from your campsite at this KOA is buena indeed – a panorama of five 14,000-foot-plus peaks framing this mountain valley. Tucked among rocks and shaded by pinon pines, the campground is a few miles southeast of the small resort town of Buena Vista and a mile from the Arkansas River.

Hike or bike on public land adjacent on three sides of the KOA. Your hosts can help you arrange for a wide variety of other pursuits – such as rafting, fishing, ATVing, jeeping and soaking in hot springs – or direct you to hiking trails, ghost towns and rock hounding sites.

At the KOA, play pool, air hockey, basketball and horseshoes. Or enjoy this quiet and tranquil setting around our new communal fire pit.

The Best Camping In Buena Vista

The Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area stretches between Buena Vista and Aspen to the north. It’s one of seven officially designated wilderness areas within the San Isabel National Forest. Here you’ll find some of the highest mountains in the Rockies named after Ivy League schools. It’s a mountain climber’s smorgasbord, with eight of Colorado’s 54 fourteeners.

Campers have nearly limitless choices in Chaffee County. A wide array of locally owned campgrounds includes the Arkansas River Rim Campground & RV Park. It’s the only park in Buena Visit right on the river. An obvious choice for tent camping kayakers, rafters, and anglers. Just north of Buena Visa is Mt. Princeton RV Park & Cabins. The quiet RV sites with full hook-ups and full-service cabins provide 360-degree views of the majestic mountains.

Nearly 80% of Chaffee County lands are public lands. Check out one of the dozen campground offerings in the Salida Ranger District Recreation Area. The Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area offers three, and Twin Lakes Recreation Area has five.
