Great teachers make all the difference. 🎶 At Cole

Great teachers make all the difference. 🎶

At Coletrain Music Academy, we believe music lessons should be about more than learning notes and technique. Our teachers are professional musicians and passionate educators who meet students where they are, help them discover what excites them about music, and give them the confidence to keep learning, playing and performing.

And our teaching team is growing!

We’ve recently welcomed five new instructors, which means more lesson availability, more instruments and more options for students in Buena Vista, Salida and virtually.

Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time, getting back into music after years away, or ready to take your playing to the next level, we’d love to help you find the right teacher.

New students welcome. Ages 3 through adult. 🎶

Camp Coletrain Inc. is so excited to sponsor The C

Camp Coletrain Inc. is so excited to sponsor The Crystal Ball at Void Studios in Denver on Friday, October 30! 🔮🎃

This annual Halloween celebration brings together musicians and members of Colorado’s music community, and we’re thrilled to have been invited to showcase Camp Coletrain Inc., Coletrain Music Academy, our 10th Annual Camp Coletrain and our new competition in partnership with the John Hartford Foundation.

The night features The Crystal Ball House Band performing a special Halloween set, PJ Moon & The Swappers, a spooky super jam + more.

Camp Coletrain's co-founder Coleman Smith will also be joining the fun as a special guest on select songs... and rumor has it he might not be the only surprise guest making an appearance! 👀

Best of all, the evening gives us an opportunity to introduce Camp Coletrain’s mission to a wider music community while raising funds to support our work. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will directly benefit Camp Coletrain Inc. and help us continue expanding access to music education and community programming.

So mark your calendar and come get spooky with us. 👻🎶

POV: You’re in Moab and decide to serenade the arc

POV: You’re in Moab and decide to serenade the arches. 🎻🏜️

Last year, Camp Coletrain Inc. partnered with the Moab Folk Festival to spend three days working with local students leading up to the festival. This year, we’re heading back - and the program is growing!

What started as three days is expanding into a week-long educational residency, giving us the opportunity to reach even more students throughout the school district.

Camp Coletrain Artistic Director Coleman Smith will spend the week introducing students to bluegrass, folk and Americana music, exploring the traditions and stories behind the music while preparing students to perform what they’ve learned.

The residency will culminate with a school-wide assembly before heading to the Moab Folk Festival on Saturday, where CMA instructors Gordon Lewis and Grace Easley will join Coleman and select students to take what they’ve learned from the classroom to the festival stage.

This year, Coleman will also introduce students to one of John Hartford’s original fiddle tunes from John Hartford’s Mammoth Collection of Fiddle Tunes - an extraordinary collection of 176 original compositions drawn from Hartford’s personal music journals, many previously unpublished and unrecorded.

Through our growing partnership with the John Hartford Foundation, we have the opportunity to help keep this music alive the way it was meant to be - learning it, teaching it, playing it and passing it on.

This is what Camp Coletrain Inc. is all about: creating partnerships that bring meaningful music education into communities and give students opportunities to learn, play and perform alongside professional musicians.

Moab, we can’t wait to be back. ❤️🎶
