Bob Songster has been an active performer and educator in Colorado for over 20 years. Bob has had the opportunity to tour the world with music and play with many of Denver’s most respected jazz, blues, and folk artists. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri Bob was raised in a musical household, first playing the piano, clarinet, and guitar- it wasn’t until high school that he began playing the bass. Recently, he has performed with Spherio, David Lawrence and the Spoonful, David Booker Swingtet, and the Cass Clayton Band. As an educator, Bob has taught ensembles, clinics, and privately to students of all ages. Currently, he maintains a busy private lesson studio in Denver, CO. Bob earned his Masters in Music Performance from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and his B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado.
Bass Players Workshop – learn how to become the best bassist you can, fast! what to practice, how to schedule your routine, how to deal with different musical styles, how to learn songs, how to deal with reading music from the bassist’s perspective, how to be a bassist that moves the music forward.
Bass for Guitarists (or Bass as a second instrument) – how to become a quick “doubler” on bass using what you already know on guitar. Students will gain knowledge of the role of the bassist and how to work well with others. This class is ideal for musicians who want to build a wider network and create more opportunities for work.
Rhythm Workshop – Do you want to improve your rhythmic strength and independence? This workshop will help students develop a killer rhythmic feel and groove that they can take to jams as well as the stage.
